A3det Ahwa is a card game inspired by the timeless Egyptian café culture, where everyday rituals become shared experiences. The game translates familiar moments, ordering tea, arranging sugar, gathering around a table, into a simple, engaging system that celebrates connection, routine, and play. Rooted in nostalgia yet designed with a contemporary approach, it reimagines the ahwa as an interactive experience you can hold and play.

Rather than relying on assumptions, the visual language was built through direct observation of Egyptian ahwa streets, ensuring every element reflects a familiar and authentic experience for its audience.

By utilizing the specific humor, idioms, and rhythmic lingo of El Ahwa culture, the project speaks directly to the audience’s lived experiences. This linguistic choice transforms the game from a commercial product into a cultural artifact, ensuring the brand feels deeply rooted in the community it celebrates.

To enhance the authenticity and personal connection of the deck, I moved away from standardized Arabic typefaces in favor of custom hand lettering. This choice immediately signals human craftsmanship over corporate production, fostering a sense of intimacy like a handwritten note passed between friends. The slight imperfections in the strokes give each card a distinct personality and create a tangible emotional resonance with the player.
